01The night is the measure
Our judgement covers everything from arrival at the front desk to the moment you leave: the setting, the character of the building, the quality of sleep and what lies beyond the lobby doors. The casino is recorded the way we might note a parking garage. It exists, and it does not move a hotel up or down.
02Words instead of numbers
Points, stars and averaged guest ratings are absent here. A human editor settles every position and then defends that call in plain sentences inside the review.
03Positions are never sold
No property can pay to appear on the chart or to climb it. Links to hotels go to their official addresses, with no affiliate code, commission or reservation tool attached.
04Five questions for every hotel

| Where is it? | A place worth visiting in its own right, ideally easy to explore on foot or by local transport. |
| What is the building like? | Architecture, history or a striking position that stays with you after checkout. |
| How are the rooms? | Space, natural light, the outlook and consistent standards across towers and wings. |
| Beyond the bedroom? | Somewhere to swim, eat well, unwind or wander, plus outings that could fill a whole visit with the gaming hall shut. |
| Who will love it? | The traveller best suited to the hotel, named in each "Best for" line. |
05Keeping it current
Each entry comes up for a fresh look on a fixed rota, and jumps the queue whenever a hotel renames itself, starts major works or shuts. The month shown beside the chart heading marks the most recent check.
